Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of Nostalgia

After 19 years, the beloved Indiana Jones is back. The startling thing about Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (aside from its unwieldy title - let's just call it Indy 4) is how little things have changed. Harrison Ford is still gruff and unorthodox, albeit almost two decades older; the villains are still mostly two dimensional characters (substitute communists for Nazis) and, on the fly, Indy still has the charisma to woo the girl (Karen Allen from Raiders). And, of course, there is still the trademark fedora and whip. The character of Indiana Jones has long been steeped in nostalgia. Producer George Lucas and director Steven Spielberg originally based the character and the look of the film on the serial action films from the 1930s. The franchise was born out of nostalgia, and now is being revived by nostalgia. I've never experienced such a buzz that went around the cinema when at Iron Man the Indy 4 trailer came on.
