What's Left For Zimbabwe?

How does the rest of the world respond to Zimbabwe? Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has thrown in the towel, understandably, and shelters in a foreign embassy. If he continues to oppose heís likely to be beaten, killed or arrested for treason, as colleague Tendai Biti has been. His choices were limited. If he didnít pull out, supporters were likely to be killed. Most of us gave him very little chance of winning an almost-certainly rigged election. A Mugabe victory, even if highly suspect, would have been a mandate for continued power. Astonishingly, Tsvangirai won the first poll, but how many believe he didnít get 50 per cent? If Tsvangirai did win a non-rigged election, Mugabe had already threatened war. None of these outcomes would have been good for the Zimbabwean people. Neither is this one!
