East Timor: A First Hand Account

Leesl Wegner is a quietly spoken young woman, who as a social worker has dedicated her life to helping those who have been marginalised by society. She is a member of the Brunswick Christian Fellowship (a Church of Christ in Victoria) and until recently had been volunteering her time in Dili, East Timor. The "AC" was able to sit down with Leesl last week for a brief chat about what it was like to be in Dili before the violence erupted recently. The picture she paints is of a country struggling to come to terms with it's own independence, it's tragic history and the role of the international community.
