The Towers of China |

As I wandered along the Great Wall of China and around towers and cities within China, I couldn’t help but think of the story of the Tower of Babel in the Bible in Genesis 11:1-9.
Within China there is the Big Buddha, temples where people worship differing spirits and gods, walled cities like Xian, Bell and Drum Towers, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and mausoleums which were prepared for the afterlife. All these things are symbols of man seeking to make a name for himself and the quest of some for immortality in order to be on the same level as God. Many of the emperors were seen as great men and some wanted to continue their power into the spiritual world. Like at the tower of Babel, the Chinese were building monuments to themselves and false gods to call attention to their own achievements instead of giving the glory to the one true God.
