What Does a Healthy Ministry Look Like?

Godís most precious resource is the people whom He created to belong to His Church. Why is it then, that so often churches experience turmoil and conflict, and at times remain stagnant in their growth? Essentially itís because at their core they are unhealthy. Church health, or ministry health, is a precursor to growth. This is true in Godís creative order. A healthy body is a growing body, whereas a sick body precludes growth and function. Every ministry that purports to be Christian will by definition seek to become and remain healthy. This is an ongoing process, and like the human body, requires ongoing proactive and intentional maintenance. Healthy ministries are shaped by healthy leaders. Healthy leaders shoulder the responsibility for ensuring they do all within their capacity to create healthy community. Over the last five years in Churches of Christ in Australia, we have wiped off more than 25 % of our national membership.
