Nine months ago, Bob, from the Epping Church of Christ was walking in Strathfield Square when he noticed a young woman slouched on one of the seats. Probably hundreds of people had walked past that day and had not taken any notice of her. Bob - the Good Samaritan - went and sat beside her and asked if he could help. Her name was Tara. Over the next week Bob made various attempts to assist Tara but due to the effects of her long-term drug addiction she was committed to a mental health hospital.
This is where I came in. I am 73 but I am not a senior who has retired. Bob asked me if I would come and visit Tara in the hospital and I said yes, even though I did not have a lot of experience with people who have been so affected by drug addiction.
