| One year on as editor, and I haven't wrecked this 109 year old institution. Yet... However, now heading up a "national" department has given me a wider view of how Churches of Christ work, both nationally and internationally, and it has been a bit of an eye opener, as Sam Gamgee would say.
The most prominent thing that I have noticed started as a personal observation. When I began the journey of discipleship, I was passionate about social justice issues. It was one of the things that drew me first to Jesus. The Sermon on the Mount had direct application to the way we live, to the way communities can function. Over the years, as I studied and entered paid ministry, that passion for social justice cooled.
