Leading a church community through the transition from a traditional church of the last century into a missional church of the 21st century can be a very demanding exercise. Being an agent of change is a stress related calling, and ministers need to be vigilant in managing their lives to cope with increased levels of stress. Not that stress is necessarily a negative force, because to live a healthy life with faith is to live within a certain degree of stress. However, statistics are revealing an increasing level in the dropout rate amongst ministers, reinforcing the fact that nearly 80% of ministers in Australia are experiencing symptoms of high stress through depression, health difficulties and signs of burnout (NCLS Survey).
