According to The Age (Tuesday, September 11th, 2007), the Jesus Surf Classic organised by Christian Surfers UK, began small, attracting only 20 dedicated surfers. Now it is one of the most popular events in the British surfing calendar. A spokesperson for the group is quoted as saying, “Surfers tend to be a group who don’t necessarily connect with a dusty old building like a church. But God is not about a building. He is about a community.” That report should ring a bell for Christians in Australia where we not only have Christian Surfers, but we also have Christians involved in many other outdoor pursuits. We have found our nitch for traveling in our caravan. I retired from secular imployment in 1999 and after one four month holiday travelling to Sydney and back to Cairns , we found things getting a bit mundane. We knew of an organisation called "Mobile Mission Maitanance International", So now we've been REFIRED not RETIRED by doing volentary work for them. Each year we have spent 50-75% of our holidays helping them ,and enjoying it. Its great. Arthur & Dorothy Walmsley
