Review: The Diving Bell And The Butterfly

I ummed and ahhed about Julian Schnabel's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly before I decided to go to the media screening. I was busy. It was French. Would it have much of an audience? Would it have a redemptive text that I could latch on to? Of course, Schnabel had won the Golden Globe for Best Director, and some research revealed that Christianity Today had rated it in their Top 10 redeeming films of 2007. So, along I went. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is a rewarding film that explores the idea of rebirth and redemption through suffering.
